Materials Needed:

  • Small amounts of worsted weight yarn in these colors:

    • White

    • Dark Brown

    • Black (for facial details)

    • Yellow

    • Pink

    • Green

    • Blue

  • A small amount of bulky, fluffy yarn (e.g., Buttercream Angel Hair) in white

  • Crochet hook: US F/3.75mm

  • Tapestry needle

  • Fiberfill stuffing


Pattern Details:

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Finished Size: Approximately 5.5 inches tall and 5.5 inches from nose to tail.

Notes:

  • This pattern is created using the amigurumi method. Work in a continuous spiral without joining rounds unless specified.

  • Use a stitch marker or contrasting yarn to mark the beginning of each round.

  • Adjust your hook size as needed for tight, even stitches.

Construction Overview: The head, neck, ears, body, legs, and tail are crocheted separately and then sewn together. A colorful blanket and strap complete Carla’s look.


Abbreviations (US Terms):

  • ch: chain

  • slst: slip stitch

  • sc: single crochet

  • dc: double crochet

  • inc: single crochet increase (2 single crochets in one stitch)

  • dec: single crochet decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)

  • st: stitch(es)

  • [number]: indicates stitches per round or row


Pattern:

Head With white worsted weight yarn:

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]

  2. Round 2: sc in each st around [6]

  3. Round 3: (inc, sc in next st) around [9]

  4. Round 4: sc in each st around [9]

  5. Round 5: (inc, sc in next 2 st) around [12]

  6. Round 6: sc in each st around [12]

  7. Round 7: (inc, sc in next 3 st) around [15]

  8. Round 8: sc in each st around [15] Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Embroider facial features using black yarn (a “Y” for the nose and “V” shapes for eyes). Stuff the head.

Neck With bulky, fluffy white yarn:

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]

  2. Round 2: inc in each st around [12] 3-4. Rounds 3-4: sc in each st around [12]

  3. Round 5: (inc, sc in next 3 st) around [15] 6-9. Rounds 6-9: sc in each st around [15]

  4. Round 10: (inc, sc in next 4 st) around [18] 11-12. Rounds 11-12: sc in each st around [18]

  5. Round 13 (partial row): sc in next 9 st, leave remaining sts unworked [9]

  6. Round 14: ch 1, turn, sc in next 9 st [9] Finish off, stuff, and leave a long tail for sewing to the body.

Ears (Make 2) With worsted weight white yarn:

  1. Round 1: 4 sc in magic ring [4] 2-3. Rounds 2-3: sc in each st around [4] Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Body With bulky, fluffy white yarn:

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]

  2. Round 2: inc in each st around [12]

  3. Round 3: (inc, sc in next st) around [18]

  4. Round 4: (inc, sc in next 2 st) around [24] 5-6. Rounds 5-6: sc in each st around [24]

  5. Round 7: (inc, sc in next 3 st) around [30] 8-9. Rounds 8-9: sc in each st around [30]

  6. Round 10: (inc, sc in next 4 st) around [36] 11-13. Rounds 11-13: sc in each st around [36]

  7. Round 14: (dec, sc in next 4 st) around [30] 15-16. Rounds 15-16: sc in each st around [30]

  8. Round 17: (dec, sc in next 3 st) around [24]

  9. Round 18: (dec, sc in next 2 st) around [18] Stuff as you go. Continue:

  10. Round 19: (dec, sc in next st) around [12]

  11. Round 20: dec around [6] Finish off, sew hole closed, and weave in ends.

Legs (Make 4) Start with dark brown yarn:

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]

  2. Round 2: inc in each st around [12] Switch to white worsted yarn: 3-5. Rounds 3-5: sc in each st around [12] Switch to bulky, fluffy yarn: 6-7. Rounds 6-7: sc in each st around [12]

  3. Round 8 (partial row): ch 1, turn, sc in next 6 st [6] Finish off, stuff, and leave a long tail for sewing.

Tail With bulky, fluffy yarn:

  1. Round 1: 4 sc in magic ring [4]

  2. Round 2: (inc, sc in next st) around [6]

  3. Round 3: sc in each st around [6]

  4. Round 4: (dec, sc in next st) around [4] Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Blanket With yellow yarn, ch 26:

  1. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across [25] 2-9. Rows 2-9: ch 1, turn, sc in each st across [25] Add tassels and colorful weaving details using blue, pink, and green yarns as desired.

Belly Strap With yellow yarn, ch 28:

  1. Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook and each to end [25] Finish off, sew to underside of blanket.


Assembly:

  1. Attach the head to the neck.

  2. Sew ears to the top of the neck.

  3. Attach the neck to the body.

  4. Position and sew legs evenly around the body.

  5. Sew the tail to the back.

  6. Add the blanket and secure it with the belly strap.
